The birth of my twins was a very happy
moment. But my babies were low
weight (1600 grams each) and had to
be admitted to the sick newborn care
unit of the hospital. I was distressed
and concerned about their health. At
this time, my nurse introduced me to
the practice of kangaroo mother care or
skin-to-skin contact. She educated me
about the benefits and the proper way
to do it. Initially, I was apprehensive to
hold my babies as they were so tiny and
I didn’t want to hurt them in any way. But
thanks to my nurse’s support, I now give
kangaroo mother care to each of my
babies for 45 minutes after every 2 hours.
This process helps me feel connected I feel connected with
with my children. I am relieved that their my babies when I
health is improving and they are now provide kangaroo
doing well. mother care to them.
