Soon after birth, my baby developed
jaundice and was admitted to the sick
newborn care unit of the hospital. I was

able to produce enough milk for my son
and had surplus milk left after feeding
him. The staff of the human milk bank at
the hospital motivated me to donate my
excess milk. They told me that my milk

will be pasteurized and given to other
babies who are not able to receive their
own mothers’ milk. I felt extremely good

when I donated milk for the first time.
Now, every day after feeding my baby, I
donate my excess milk to the milk bank
at the hospital. I am happy that I can help
other babies in need. My baby’s condition
